*sigh* Lovely October!

I am absolutely in love with the month of October! šŸ˜€ I always feel so thankful to God and refreshed during October, plus it’s my birth month, so I might be a little biased on that account. In it we find the peak of leaf season, the very epitome of autumn, and that lovely clean and bright blue sky with unique cloud structures floating across it! And to think that God designed it all for His glory and our enjoyment… I suppose that is why I am so filled with thankfulness and praise during this time of year, despite the many troubles of life. Oh, that I could extend it for another 30 days! And how glorious would it be if we could celebrate Thanksgiving amidst it?!?! But no, October is vanishing before our eyes and in just a few short days it will be totally and completely gone… never to be seen again for another whole year.

Excuse my unashamed plug for the best and most glorious month of the year, and enjoy this poem, a much more eloquent series of thoughts on October. šŸ˜‰

October’s Bright Blue Weather

O suns and skies and clouds of June,
And flowers of June together,
Ye cannot rival for one hour
October’s bright blue weather.

When loud the bumblebee makes haste,
Belated, thriftless vagrant,
And goldenrod is dying fast,
And lanes with grapes are fragrant;

When gentians roll their fringes tight,
To save them for the morning,
And chestnuts fall from satin burrs
Without a sound of warning;

When on the ground red apples lie
In piles like jewels shining,
And redder still on old stone walls
Are leaves of woodbine twining;

When all the lovely wayside things
Their white-winged seeds are sowing,
And in the fields, still green and fair,
Late aftermaths are growing;

When springs run low, and on the brooks,
In idle golden freighting,
Bright leaves sing noiseless in the hush
Of woods, for winter waiting;

When comrades seek sweet country haunts,
By twos and twos together,
And count like misers, hour by hour,
October’s bright blue weather.

O suns and skies and flowers of June,
Count all your boasts together,
Love loveth best of all the year
October’s bright blue weather.

About Michelle

I am the middle of three daughters, daily living by the grace of God and in awe of Christ's perfect love, to suffer and die in atonement for my sins, and then rise from the dead to give me eternal life with Him. I get excited about reading/applying/talking about God's Word, travel, fellowship, nutrition, books, writing, photography, cooking and especially baking, designing things, event planning, and doing things with my family.

    October is definitely my favorite month too, Michelle! (Closely followed by November, in which we get the real fall weather.) Though our Oct. doesn’t have AS lovely weather as most places, I still love it *sighs dreamily–a rare thing*
    I loved that poem, too!

    Oh, yes, October is so beautiful! *joins in sighing* I’m glad God gave us seasons (for more resons than one)! Fall seems to be a great time to reflect on the wonders of God’s creation and on His holiness. Your post was a joy to read, as always.

    Ever yours,
    Risa
