Our Family

We are a first generation Christian homeschool family of five. God abundantly blessed our parents’ faithful obedience to His Word, and not only has He used them to reach the souls of their children, but also to reach backwards, two generations, in one case, to the soul of our great-grandmother.

Our family loves to do things outdoors together, like taking hikes or walks, going on picnics, and motorhome ( πŸ˜€ ) camping. It’s an amazing thing to be surrounded by all the things God has created, moved to worship Him for His marvelous love and mercy toward us.

And then there is gardening. While some members of the family prefer to keep their hands out of the soil, every person has a part in the gardening process – from preparing the soil, to planting, to watering, to weeding, to harvesting, to food preparation and preservation. No one could, or would want to, avoid being a part. With only about 75 square feet of garden space total, it is a new challenge every year to fit in as much as we can, naturally prevent/treat disease, and keep the soil healthy.

As a family, we have come to understand the importance of eating fresh, natural, whole foods. Yes, cooking can be challenging – but so rewarding. After eating mostly nutritious food for awhile, and then going through a time where we slacked off a bit, we can personally testify to the difference in how you feel, and the energy and creativity we did not have when we ate more refined foods.

In due time you will find out that we are all avid readers and library builders. Having collected many books over the years, there is basically no space left in our house – Michelle says that our dark family secret is that the only room in our house that doesn’t have books in it is the bathroom {…but that can be fixed…}

All of us yearn after a home in the country. Some property to keep chickens, wool animals, cows… The space for a large garden to inexpensively supply our family with healthy food… Woods to explore the mysteries of and a stream to sing with… A home to comfortably shelter 5 people and house their pursuits… but God in His infinite wisdom has kept us living on a city lot for over 15 years, and we know deep in our hearts that the lessons and blessings of now cannot be had elsewhere, and for that we are humbly grateful.

    Hello, 3 nieces!!
    Your blog is very neat. This is my first blogging experience, so I hope I’m doing it correctly.

    AND, I love the 2010 calendar and newsletter. You all are very talented (writers, photographers and ballooners). However, my most favorite is the snapshot of the 3 of you. (thanks, mama)

    You all continue to grow into delightful young ladies.

    Thanks for commenting, Aunt Lynne! We do try to update the blog as much as we can, but sometimes it’s just so hard to find the time! I hope you enjoy it anyway.
