You may have tangible wealth untold;
Caskets of jewels and coffers of gold.
Richer than I you can never be –
I had a mother who read to me.
The function of a good book is to stand like a signpost guiding the reader to the Truth and the Life.
Many of these books have warmed me, they have saddened me, they have shocked me, they have even aggravated me. And for that very passion in them, they are some of my favorites. I call this list my “Challenge and Encourage Reading List” and I would heartily recommend them to any discerning reader. Click on the links for our review of that book – I pray they are helpful.
Hinds Feet on High Places by Hannah Hurnard
The Challenge by Carolyn (and it’s sequels: The Choice, The Question, The Concept)
One Thing You Can’t Do In Heaven by Mark Cahill
Crown and Covenant Trilogy by Douglas Bond (surprisingly deep for children’s fiction, wonderful portrayal of a father-led family)
Especially for Young Women:
Stepping Heavenward by Elizabeth Prentiss
Journey of the Heart by Jeannie Castleberry
Raising Maidens of Virtue by Stacy McDonald
So Much More by Anna Sofia and Elizabeth Botkin
Elsie Dinsmore Series (up to about #18) by Martha Finley
